Disney isn't making Mickey cartoons we want to see, so I'm seriously considering making our own, albeit with our limited skills. My brother and I drew it, my brother did the voice acting, and I recorded the music.

I've had the rough idea for this gag since about 2008, when I was starting to learn a lot more about Disney. Originally it was meant to be a series of Mickey and his friends going on a road trip in the real world, not just some cartoon version of it, and encountering various real life things they wouldn't see in their Disney bubble.

It was gonna be called "Realityland". I wrote some rough scripts back then, but they're not very good. I never wrote down this specific gag until this year, which originally was gonna have Goofy instead of Horace.

Jumping ahead about 18 years later (geez), Disney is in a much, much stranger place than it was when I came up with the idea. Mickey cartoon series in particular have been a really mixed bag. I've kept hoping that Disney would finally wise up and make Mickey cool again, but they've never quite managed it, despite the potential Epic Mickey promised. (That said, I quite like Roadster Racers and all adjacent series.)

As you most likely know by now, Mickey Mouse went public domain a few years ago. So far no one's really done anything significant with the character. For a few years now I've hoped Disney would adapt the classic 1930s Floyd Gottfredson comics and show everyone Mickey's true potential, but it's clear that ain't happening.

I want to do it myself, and I have many ideas, but I can't really animate, or even draw particularly fast, so short animatics will have to do for now.
