So it was like 2023 (yes this took a long time mostly because my day job got in the way and when I'm too tired I just sit and play really long 4x games) and I was getting back into making my own cartoons again. I was talking to a co-worker at my day job about how he would go to a shisha bar with friends and they decided he smoked too much and used that as an excuse to ditch him and the one guy was smoking a cigar. I was like 'ehh lets base it very loosely on the essence of that but do something different to try and push myself before I get to writing my web series 🤡 ' and I came up with this idea of comparing different types of smoking. It wasn't even necessarily meant to be all that straightforwardly funny but as it went and I was desperate to move on to other projects jokes just kind of emerged from going stir crazy or hiding shortcuts because it was taking too long.

I actually really enjoyed designing these guys and they're definitely showing up again, the tall guy was not iterated at all and was exactly how I wanted him to look right away. All the voices I just mimicked from other Australian YouTube shit I liked over the years (see if you can guess them!) because they just fit the specific type of dude I was imagining and this was originally not going to be a big thing but something I put out in a few months that wasn't just something I had to throw together for a jam. God I'm so happy this is out of my brain and people can stop asking if I 'still make cartoons?' for a while before I inevitably make a project way too big again. LMAO.

Tried some editing tricks I learned doing a lot of live action editing the last few years too and I think I did okay on that front, a few things compositionally that I'd change but that's for next time, there's a point where you just have to finish and move on.

I still have a lot to learn about sound design though, I really want future soundscapes to be a lot richer and to really figure out how balancing works. I regret never having the time to do the classes available when I was doing my masters at film school but I had so much editing to do back then I needed all that time to put docos and short films together.

Fuck even my description is taking way too long I just kind of lived this thing forever. Got more cool shit planned for the future! Hope you like xoxoxoxo
