Ling Xiaoyu on the beach with a beach ball :D

A low-poly style animation inspired by Tekken 3 for the ps1.made in blender.

Tekken: Beach Party

A cool animation I decided to make using more scrapped models from Foodfight!

I decided to do another short similar to my previous one, SUGI, for this year's Newgrounds Low Poly Day. I mentioned in the description of SUGI that I used 3D models that a friend of mine, Ziggy Cashmere, recovered from the original production of the infamously terrible animated film, Foodfight!, which he made a YouTube documentary about the insane production of. However, I never could've guessed that more models would be recovered since. Long story short, he found even more background character models, almost 100 of them, as well as some environment models from a cancelled video game adaptation of Foodfight! I had been playing around with those models for several months, but I decided to lock in and make something quick with them for this year's Low Poly Day. I spent some time fixing an environment model of Chinatown from a flying level in the cancelled game, which involved meticulously going through an old folder of textures and reapplying each of them to the correct faces of the model. Then I took two of the recently found character models, Alyssa and Gutter Girl, and made a quick mocap animation of them skating through the environment since they both had skateboards with their model. I'm admittedly more proud of the work I did restoring the Chinatown city then I am with the character animation, but I think it was worth making something quick just to show it off to the world. Also I have to give another special shoutout to Jiji, a friend of a friend, who gave me permission to use another one of his tracks, "Olliewood", as the soundtrack for this animation. His great Y2K techno beats really add to the vibe of the low-poly aesthetic I used in this short and SUGI. Give it a listen on YouTube here, and check out his other music while you're at it: https://youtube.com/@__jebbe

Make sure to click that download button! ... or else...

WOW! That was a close one, am I right guys? Right in the last hour lol When I heard that Newgrounds was having a low poly event, I knew I had to try and throw my hat in the ring! I had only found out 6 days before the event so what your seeing is my best attempt at 3D modelling a character, creating an environment, animated an entire short, and editing it all together in the span of 6 days (I have not slept for just as long) Not only that, but this is also my first art piece I'm publishing to Newgrounds, EVER! I've been on the site for years as a lurker, but never had the confidence to publish any of my art here... UNTIL NOW! I hope all of you enjoy this silly little animation I made, and happy Low Poly Day! For a closer look at the 3D model, and some BTS images, go here!

Voodoo Vids Low Poly Day special is joining in the celebration of this wonderful artstyle

But I locked in, dug deep.... ANNND stayed up animating and editing until 4am.... i'm tired. but I'm super proud of this special! I hope you love it too. I love low poly style and although I don't stick strictly to a lot of rules surrounding the more stricter side of things with resolutions and pixel densities. Voodoo Vids is set in a world that is largely made up of low poly models I spent 2 years making. I felt I had to participate in an event that is celebrating it. Wow I didn't think I would have made it this hard for myself. The idea was conjured.... i'd say last minute, It took me a while to figure out what I wanted to do within the Voodoo Vids World to celebrate the art style. I didn't BEGIN animating a single shot on this until June 3rd. I had the script, voices recorded, props made, but 3 days to animate, edit, sound, music? am I insane? Turns out I am.What ensued was solid days and nights of animating and pushing my comfort zone. I also chose this SHORT time window to try to improve the animation where I could, I hope some will notice a step up in that area. I could have refined more, I could actually tweak and add to this forever, but you have to draw a line and with the deadline looming I couldn't keep adding or making alterations. Episode 5 is still in the works, and more is coming but for now, I want to say thank you to Newgrounds! And thank you to all that have supported Voodoo Vids! Please check out my other socials too, I'd love to get Voodoo Vids to a wider audience and your likes, comments, shares go SUCH a long way. I love hearing from you and will always try to respond to everything!

Proof of concept for our upcoming series MOTHELL

The Mothell is always open.Come in. Sit down.Something will come along. Okay, let me try to explain a bit of the context, even though words aren't really my thing. The concept is very simple: we're in this surreal diner/motel floating in a space/non-space, where ambiguous characters come looking for... rest? Comfort? Who knows... And where things happen. In every episode a new character is added, and there will be no time ellipses — they'll all be consecutive. All episodes together, watched in a row, will form a single short/feature film, I imagine.Nothing earth-shattering in the traditional sense, but every episode is a metaphor for something — although I won't be the one to say which ones, I'd like everyone to see what they want in it.There's a lore behind it, and what happens happens for a reason, but again, I'd like you to discover it as you go through the series. I'd like to tell you how this idea was born, but I've spent the last two weeks working so intensely day and night on this project... so many ideas, so many changes of direction, additions, modifications, that I've forgotten what the initial spark was. I think that at some point I simply said to myself "Hey, let's try to produce something, doesn't matter what." And so I started putting together some of the low poly assets I've created over the last few years, without worrying too much about the story, just to see what happened. To have that feeling again from when I was a child and played with my toys, and it was enough to just spread them out in front of me on the floor, and suddenly they came to life and anything could happen. And, just like back then, everything happened. I took my "abandoned factory" assets and built a diner out of them (if you look closely you'll notice everything is wrong — the tables are workbenches, so too high to comfortably eat at, and the counter is too low, which is why the protagonists sit in those awkward positions — and those are just two examples), I added a couple of human characters, and made up something for them to do.From there some stories started taking shape in my head, enough to start thinking about making a series out of it, and what seemed like a one-off thing now feels like one of the most interesting projects I've ever come up with. We'll see if that's true. The only rule I gave myself: I want it to be weird, to look off, to reflect my personal pursuit of the "not beautiful." I know, not much of all this happens in this first episode — the main goal here was to see if I was capable of finishing one — but I promise you, as we go on, it'll get better. Then, obviously it's all weird — or maybe I should say New Weird? I'm a huge Jeff VanderMeer fan — so I imagine you have to be into the genre a bit, but either way I'm giving it everything I've got. I'm also leaving here a photo of my paper storyboard, even if you probably won't make much sense of it, I can barely make sense of it myself haha — initially I was planning to post it only as a reel on Instagram, which is why it's in vertical format.Thank you so much for your attention and see you next time! I originally made a 3D Matt Johnson low poly model since there weren't any Matt Johnson models online (because that's something that people make) but then my friend suggested to animate him doing this and so I did and then I just kept adding stuff in an after effects scene until this final product came out. A fake trailer for a hypothetical game series. (Although not entirely true, I did have a concept of a game in development but it never was in 3D, instead being created on RPG Maker MV) This was my final year project during my time in university. I thought it'd be cool to submit something that had a low-poly video game aesthetic but I didn't have enough time to do more with what I wanted to focus on, being character animation. So having to come up with the fake trailer idea for a hypothetical game was the best to compensate into including all the character rigs I've made into my project instead of cutting them out completely. I'm not a musician but the music used is something I made in like 5 minutes because I used copyrighted music in the original.

Made in Prisma3D (the free version, I ain't payin' just to remove the watermark on the bottom-right, at least not until/unless someone pays me to make Prisma3D animations for them!). I think the phone app actually has potential, especially once I can subdivide the models to look less "low-poly," and it looks like the Blender for iPad app is not officially coming for quite some time, so I've been making little animations in Prisma and slowly improving with each short one!

Lookin' Sharp! - with Pencil Sharpener Boy!

(VOLUME WARNING+FOR MATURE AUDIENCES ONLY. VIEWER DISCRETION IS ADVISED)Fuzzy and Fluffy ask a stranger for directions!~~~~~~~~~~~~Okay, creator commentary time! First and foremost, I apologize for how long this one took in coming out, as I was sick for nearly 2 whole weeks earlier this month. But luckily it all worked out and I could complete it before Halloween. This project is actually a bit of an interesting one because it's a remake of a project I did for 3D Animation class last fall when we had to do a creatures themed short for Halloween, which is why everyone here is more round as they were originally low poly Animal Crossing-style models. I came up with these killer teddy bears, their C-3POesque worrywart owl friend, a rude scarecrow who's lost his scaring mojo and his pumpkin minion. This is the first Screwypilled Tooncels short that doesn't feature Rick, Roxy, Freddy or any of what my primary characters that I dub ''The Looneywood Acres Gang''. I did have a Halloween one with them planned but again, as I fell sick I had limited time and this one was further along completion. Plus I wanted to introduce these guys because they're just one in a group of rotating cast of Animaniacs/KaBlam-inspired secondary ensemble characters. I may eventually just pull a Smiling Friends and drop that one out of season so look forward to that.... This Christmas! Or Valentine's Day... Or Easter.... Regardless, I guess Rick's Demon Dilemma can sort of count as this year's Halloween cartoon with said Looneywood Acres crew since it had demons and released close enough to October. Those with a keen eye may notice I've actually featured these guys in a couple of easter eggs in some past projects since I like to do a lot of foreshadowing and early cameos. Here they finally are in the flesh! I initially intended to make them my sort of ''B'' segment cartoon but lately I'm leaning into making them more of a Kang and Kodos/Mr.Hankey deal where they only appear during their respective holiday season. This is also the first time Clover the puppy from my Hellhounds student movie has a proper speaking appearance in this series so I guess he's officially carried over from that. I may make my next cartoon feature Snowball, the other doggie that stole the heart of my classmates back in the spring.~~~~~~~~~~Sound courtesy of Pixabay Music:"Teddy Bear Waltz" Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com)Licensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 4.0 Licensehttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/ HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!! Watch on YouTube

TRON 2: The True and Honest Original Sequel

A cool animation I decided to make based off two unused models from Foodfight!

I got the idea to make this animation based on something really cool that I found. A friend of mine, Ziggy Cashmere, made a YouTube documentary about the insane production behind the infamously terrible animated film, Foodfight! Among all the things he recovered from the movie's production were several 3D models from the original version of the movie that was being made before the director restarted production. Long story short, he recovered a few models of characters that never appeared in the movie, and two of them caught my eye for how adorable they looked: Sugi.lwo, and Anime Zombie.lwo. I knew the character designs had the potential for a cool animation, so I decided to make a really quick animation of Sugi beating up a horde of anime zombies for Newgrounds Low-Poly Day. Despite using pre-made motion capture animations from Mixamo, the process of making this took a lot more out of me than I thought, but I think the end result has the potential for me to explore more stories with these characters if people like them. Huge thanks to Ubern for his incredible work on the city background, which was also a model from Foodfight! Check out his awesome 3D animations here: https://www.youtube.com/@ubern00bkye Also I have to give a special shoutout to Jiji, a friend of a friend, who gave me permission to use his track "Speedrun" as the soundtrack for this animation. I know it wouldn't have been nearly as authentic without a distinctive Y2K techno beat. Give it a listen on YouTube here, and check out his other music while you're at it: https://youtube.com/@__jebbe
