The 40th anniversary of Super Mario Bros. animated!

This animation is a sequel to my very first hand-drawn animation. This time around, I used a Huion drawing tablet instead of drawing with purely a mouse. The quality is quite a bit different . . . maybe I'll need to remake the first at some point . . . Check out the original animation here, if you haven't seen it yet: Super Mario Over the Years! 1 - Unfortunately, you'll have to watch it on YT because I didn't have a NG account back then :( Isn't it technically the 41st now of Super Mario Bros?: Lol, yes - this project is a culmination of short vids I've been putting out during the 40th anniversary across my socials, plus a bunch more! I still wanted to call this an animation for the 40th, as it's the bigger milestone year than the 41st. I also just work slowly, and had a bunch of ideas, causing the release time to continuously get pushed back. Art Direction I've had the thought for quite some time to make a more faithful animation to the Mario series to emulate and honor the stylistic choices of Yōichi Kotabe and Shigehisa Nakaue. My decision on the art direction also came down to me wanting to "understand the generations of Mario” from its official art standpoint. Furthermore, I wanted to embellish some of Mario's movements, not limited to the games, to give a greater sense of action and adventure! I referenced all types of official cover art, licensed activity books, instruction manuals, classic 80s/90s commercials and other promotional material for the games and time periods. It took way more effort than my past simpler, often rough character animations - but it was totally worth it! For later games in the franchise, including games like Super Mario 64 and Super Mario Odyssey Characters, I choose to fuse the official render designs with the linework used in the manual art in the earlier games. I wanted the animation to have the hand drawn feel, but still have the evolution of Mario's design aimed to hit several of the "key poses" from the Super Mario Bros official art, and “bring them to life” in the animation. In order to execute this idea, I started with several of the key frames as these key poses, with some adjustments (like eye movements, hand placements, or perspective tweaks) to flow with the animation. As far as the backgrounds go, they involve a stylistic approach to Shigehisa Nakaue's work on the fairly consistent Nintendo summer artwork. I tried to simulate this by blending some watercolor texture scans I painted with digital watercolor brushes created in Photoshop to create laying and show a brush stroke on a more rough, coarse paper. The color usage references the internal colors displayed when playing the games on their respective consoles. This challenged me when it came to using a very monochromatic color scheme in Super Mario Land's Birabuto dungeon to quite the opposite of using a wide array of color in Mario's character animation in the Super Mario Odyssey segment. Easter Eggs Woah, you actually read up to this point? Okay, well, I'll let you in on a little secret: this animation is jam packed with a ton of hidden secrets/collectables. Try to spot the following:

Bosses and/or friendly side characters from each game

References to different Nintendo game console generations

5 cherries to give you "invincibility"

2 wonder seeds for a "sense of curiosity"

Franchise game/console codenames

A bunch of coins. Count all of them if you dare and they may reveal some meaningful Mario number lol . . . The following are variations of coins and values associated with them (does their final value mean anything?):

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀◦ Regular/Gold Coin - Simply 1 Coin⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀◦ Red Coin (SM64) - 1 Red Coin = 2 Coins⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀◦ Blue Coin (SM64) - 1 Blue Coin = 5 Coins⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀◦ Purple Regional Coin (SMO) - 1 Regional Coin = 2 Coins Credits Music in chronological order:0:00 ~ Super Mario Bros 2. - Ground Theme ~ Super Smash Bros. Super Mario Over the Years! 2

This is a story for the prompt "field" and a bit of "distance" i made in flash use arrow keys to toggle pages music link use arrow keys to toggle pages i tried to be a bit creative with it Special Thanks for im-leia for musicJamirot for this amazing oppurtunityand Newgrounds for their amazing website here is the story (for mobile users) : It was just a regular day at home, chilling, when I heard a voice from above — it was my mom. She told me that tomorrow we are going to take a trip to the fields with my grandparents. "OK," I said. Well, we'll see. Every month we travel to the fields in the countryside just to have a nice day with our grandparents. I really like the fields; it is a silent place to put your thoughts aside and maybe stretch or meditate. When I heard about this, I was excited to go, especially with my grandad. I loved staying with him; he always teaches me cool stuff. Like last year, where he taught me how to make a wooden tent and also taught me how to catch fish. Life here was simple and we were happy. That was until tomorrow, when my mom told me something really tragic. "So, we are going to the fields, but your grandad isn't joining us." "WHY?" I said. "Because… Because… your grandad got a heart attack and passed away," she said while she was sobbing. "WHAT? That can't be…" I said. "It's impossible." I couldn't go to the fields without my grandad. I felt my heart broken from the inside. Then we took the road to the fields. I felt depressed. Now, who would teach me how to make cool things and tell me old trivia? And now he's dead. What's the point of going anyway, you might ask? So, they're hosting my grandad's funeral in the fields. I needed to go; it will be the most important day of my life. That way, I can tell him my final goodbyes. The trip felt long, way too long than it should be. Every mile we crossed, I felt sadder, more depressed. As he was my only best friend in this whole universe, I never had any friends. Everyone likes bullying me for some reason. He was the only one who understood me; he was ME. So, finding out that he's dead just didn't feel right, but I had nothing to do. That's life — people live and die. That's why we need to live the best of it, spend every little second with your family, because you won't be seeing them again. The road went on and on, like it was stretching. It felt like eternity. "Honey, wake up," mom said. I thought we had arrived at the fields, but no — we just stopped at the gas station for a quick rest. I felt devastated. My family went inside to order a quick snack. I didn't have the appetite to eat anything; I just waited in the car. I really wanted to see my grandad one last time in my life. I felt like they took forever to finish ordering. I couldn't wait to go. I saw them exiting the gas station. "FINALLY!" I said. They came back with snacks. "Take some," my sister said while trying to give me a bag of chips. "No thanks," I said. I wasn't that hungry anyway. We took the road, driving our way to the fields — slowly but surely — crossing beautiful landscapes, giant farmlands, and stunning mountains. For a second, I forgot about everything. I was mesmerized by the magnificent views of the wilderness: giant trees, long stretching lakes, and fascinating wildlife. And before I knew it, we finally arrived at the fields. "Oh, here they are!" our grandma shouted while waving her hands. I saw her from far away. When we parked our car, we were greeted by our grandma, but something felt off, like a missing puzzle piece — my grandad was that missing puzzle piece. The trauma hit me again. I instantly remembered everything. I really missed him. I didn't have the chance to see him again. "SNAP OUT OF IT!" my mom said. My grandma led us to the house, where I saw a lot of familiar faces — my uncle, my aunt, and my cousin. "Wanna play something?" he said. "What the hell? Are you SERIOUS? It's a funeral! A FUCKING FUNERAL!" Everyone started staring at me. "Sorry!" I said, but he dragged me away anyway. We went outside in the beautiful sunset, playing soccer and passing the ball. "So, what are you into right now?" my cousin said. "Yeah, nothing, what about you?" I said. "The same," my cousin said. We were kinda just awkwardly passing the ball over and over again with basically no purpose. After passing the ball for about 20 minutes, my mom called me. "Get in here, son," she said. I went to her. "What's the matter, mom?" I said. "Your grandma wants to give you something." She said. I was curious. "What is it?" I said. "Follow me and you'll see." I followed my mom, then I saw my grandmother holding a big can of some sort. "What is this?" I asked. "It's your grandad's time capsule," she said. I was shocked — my grandad's time capsule, that's so COOL! I really wanted to open it. My grandma gave it to me and I started to open it in no time. I found a lot of vintage stuff, like old Star Wars action figures, his old yo-yo that looked SO OLD, old newspapers from the 1970s, and a letter? I picked up the piece of paper. It read: June 23rd, 1982 "Hi there, it's me. I am 15 years old now. I fell in love with this year. I met a lot of new friends and learned a lot of cool new stuff. When I grow up, I will become an engineer, establish a new family, and maybe even meet my grandchildren in the future." I was touched by it. I felt better with this letter. It felt like my grandad was still alive with us. This letter was the cure to my depression and my sadness. I challenged myself to also meet new friends, learn new cool stuff, establish a family, and someday meet my grandchildren in the future. But for now, I just sat down to observe the nature around me. "I wish I could meet you again." THE END

Concept trailer for a game about drag racing (not like that)

Entry for Aalasteir (or whatever his name is this week)'s Original Game Concept Animation Jam! [will include game design document here later] Five minutes before the end probably. Or not, kind of already broke the existing franchise rule anyway. It'll be fine, it just has lots and lots of guest characters, tell me what existing franchise it's a fan game of, all of them!? Don't be ridiculous. Anyway, the idea is it's a business management simulation with some idle game elements. You take bets to earn money for running events, hiring new racers, sabotaging anybody you didn't bet on yourself, the usual. And before you point it out, obviously the big chicken's attack should be an egg (shell) but the familiar turtle was more recognisable so just used it for this. The ironic thing is, I'm never going to make this! Going to use the sprites for a proper vehicle combat thing (I've just decided). Already playing this game on YouTube-(join the patreon to take part if you like) So to summarise: I can just make games if I want to make games, this is completely against the spirit of the jam and I've wasted everybody's time. However, I will be keeping an eye out for other entries so, as suggested in the original post, do indeed keep track of your assets.

Spoiler Owl Strikes Back | GameGrumps Animated

Game DescriptionCurrent Sinestrah: Labyrinth of Sins is a prototype of a turn-based tactical roguelite with a strong adult erotic theme. In essence, you take control of a champion (like Rena, Ariasha, or Ofelia) and dive into a procedurally generated labyrinth. Your goal is to explore, survive, and grow stronger. The gameplay focuses on:Dungeon ExplorationMove through a 2D map, discovering rooms, corridors, treasures, traps (like the spiderwebs we just added), and special events.Turn-Based Tactical CombatWhen you encounter an enemy, the game shifts into combat mode. It’s not just about brute force—combat revolves around two core resources:

Excitement (EXC): Works like the main “damage” type. When a character’s excitement reaches the limit, they climax, lose a “heart” (health), and their morale takes a hit.

Morale (MOR): Represents determination. If morale drops to zero, the character enters a “Submission” state and becomes vulnerable.

Eromancy & Goddess SystemBesides physical attacks, you can use Eromancy—erotic magic fueled by elemental energies (Lust, Love, Passion, etc.).You can also choose a patron goddess, earn her favor, and gain blessings that shape your run.Combat isn’t focused solely on violence—it’s about domination, seduction, and erotic power dynamics between characters. Current State of the ProjectThe game is in an advanced, fully playable prototype stage. The core gameplay loop is implemented and working:✔ Dungeon GeneratorThe current system creates complete levels with rooms, hallways, doors, and a coherent layout of events (start room, boss, treasure rooms, shops, altars, etc.).✔ Combat SystemThe turn-based mechanics are solid. Excitement, Morale, attacks, and basic eromancies are implemented. There are already several enemies (Slime Girl, Little Demon, Bunny Warrior), each with unique abilities and dialogue.✔ Character ProgressionYou can level up, assign stat points, and manage a full inventory with drag-and-drop equipment for weapons, armor, and accessories.✔ Basic ContentInitial consumables, gear, treasure chests, shops, and goddess altars are all included. In short, the core foundation is firmly established. Right now the focus is polishing the existing mechanics and, most importantly, adding more content. Future PlansThe goal is to expand this prototype into a full, replayable roguelite experience. The main plans are:Massive Content Expansion

More Enemies: A wide variety of creatures with unique mechanics, dialogues, and abilities.

More Items & Gear: Hundreds of new weapons, armor pieces, and accessories with special effects and passives that allow different playstyles.

New Rooms & Events: More room types, puzzles, traps, and special encounters to keep each run unpredictable.

Floor Bosses: Unique bosses for each level of the labyrinth, with multi-phase battles and complex attack patterns.

Deeper Game Systems

Advanced Eromancy: A crafting-style system where players can combine elemental essences to discover new spells, making magic more dynamic and experimental.

Goddess Interaction: A deeper favor system with quests, more impactful blessings, and possibly curses if you anger them.

Narrative & Dialogue: Expand the lore of the Labyrinth and its champions. Add more combat dialogue options that can influence battles in unexpected ways.

Polish & Quality of Life

Audio: Original soundtrack and sound effects for actions, attacks, and UI.

Animations & VFX: Enhanced animations and more visual effects to make combat feel more dynamic and impressive.

Save System: Add the ability to save the game and continue later.

Well, as you can see, the game is still in its early stages... so your help with advice, mechanics, and ideas will be greatly appreciated in order to move forward in the best possible direction.I want to clarify that Ariasha's illustration differs from the champion selection because the design was different before. I have to redo her portrait image. Thanks!

The first episodes I ever worked on for Cyanide & Happiness, 2015

Thus marks the beginning of the end of my animatic uploads, as I dive into episode segments that I've worked on for the Cyanide & Happiness Show. There's layers to the delays on this! I actually initially assembled this very .fla file while I was in the studio facing layoffs for the first time, and I was let go before I could complete it. Now that I've recovered my work hard drive, I can pick up where I left off archiving my work, and my history with Explosm. At the time that I was assigned to work on Bill Brass, I was brand-spanking new at this whole thing. I had made an audition for them, then they gave me a scenario to test what I could do, and then they assigned me a couple of promo's to animatic for the show. One of which was of a stickman swallowing the camera, and we enter through his esophagus and out his asshole where he had the "Cyanide & Happiness Show: Season Too!" logo at the ready by his buttcheeks. The other promo, which was more involved, was this brief little ad.. These were my functional tests to see if I could keep up with feedback and deadlines. With the ads complete, Season Too was getting ready to wrap up, so they tacked me onto the Bob Ross segment of "Too Many Cops" and all over the place in "Too Much History" I struggled for a little bit with getting clear imagery up for some shots in the "Ghost of History's Past" segment, so Beth Del Rosario stepped up and helped me out, because she's incredible at what she does. She saved my ass a lot through Season Three, Purgatony, and she knocks out all of her work in very quick order. I will always feel bad about like not "getting it" fast enough to the point that others needed to dive in and help me out. That's the kinda guilt that makes me want to improve so that doesn't happen again, but as embarrassed as I was that I NEEDED help, I am equally grateful that the Explosm team could help when they were able. They didn't let me drown, and based on what I've been hearing from other creative gigs with other studios, it makes it seem like that's a rare grace in the industry. Because there's been such a gap between this part's assembly and the next part, expect there to be some changes when the Part 2 goes up. This'll wrap up the "Too Much History" Episode, and that'd be it for Season Too. Then, I got a couple of segments from Season Three to upload. A few things from Season Four. And then the only animatics that'll be left are the more recent shorts that I've been working on as a contractor from this year! But I'm trying to get this old stuff archived. It's just one less thing left to do before I move onto newer, more colorful, more original, less stick-figury, more challenging-to-make content that's more my own. More for you! Not blueprints from bygone eras. Stay tuned, and thanks for watching! Check out the extensive change list below! Update v0.5 release notes:NEW: Experimental feature - You can now make your own motion capture animations. The focus here is on ease of use - simply press the select button (there's a prompt that pops up) while grabbing a sphere to start recording. Press it again to stop recording and play back the animation as a loop! You can for example record movement to a characters hip, then while that plays back record another movement to their arms or legs and layer it up. This is experimental and quite basic in functionality (no saving yet), but later I should be able to make it work with elbow and knee controls, maybe it could even be used to record motions for toys, lights and other objects.NEW: I finally managed to add elbow and knee controls! This has been requested since day one but I hadn't had a chance to work on it until now. They are hidden by default, with an option to toggle visibility in the animation menu.NEW: 57 new face morphs, including eye shape, size, position and angle, and new nose and mouth shapes.NEW: Face morphs are now organised into sub categories (nose, mouth, eyes etc) for ease of use.NEW: The clothing system has been completely re-done and improved on. It's now possible to add and remove as many clothing slots as you like, and each slot can have any item of clothing equipped. This makes it possible to combine items and accessories in any way you like.NEW: Clothing colours can now be edited! Some items have multiple sections to edit.NEW: Click on a morph name to go into "Thumbstick mode". You can then adjust and scroll through the list using the thumbstick which makes it much easier to keep your eyes on the girl and see the changes.NEW: Auto stretch setting - the ass and pussy gradually stretch and become wider as they are penetrated. Afterwards they will slowly return to their original state.NEW TOY: Doe strap-on. This is still work in progress. Once inserted use the attach system to attach it to the characters pelvis and keep it firmly in place.NEW: Drink collectables with dynamic fluids (WIP). A few of these are scattered around the ship, they don't do anything yet but in another update I'll be adding the names chosen by patrons and a collectable system which keeps track of which ones you've found.NEW: Thumbstick deadzone setting, this should fix any problems with drifting.NEW: Dark empty environment very similar to the Quest level, it's simplicity (it's literally just a floor mesh) should give you better performance than some of the other environments. There's also no baked lighting so you can create a nice dynamic lighting setup from scratch.NEW: 10 new clothing items/accessories including 2 pairs of stockings.NEW: Added 3 new built in scenes and updated the old ones.NEW: Added 5 new character presets and updated the old ones.NEW: The attach system for joint handles now works in VR. Select a joint handle by grabbing it and then press the attach button in the Animation menu. The laser will turn blue, aim and press the select button to choose an object and attach. You can attach two characters hips together for example, or attach their hands to a table etc.NEW: Playing without motion controllers is now much better. This is good if you don't have a full PC VR system yet, like a DK2 or any cheap mobile headset supported by RiftCat for example. You can now grab and pose characters and move toys and objects with the middle mouse button. The laser is now controlled by moving the mouse instead of turning your head.NEW: Added Vive tracker instructions to the help menu/startup room.IMPROVED: Clothing assets are now loaded asynchronously when they are needed which saves memory, improves loading times and eliminates stuttering during loading. This is essential to keep memory usage down in the future when there will be a lot more clothing items.IMPROVED: Character lights are now turned off by default.IMPROVED: Clothing system now supports accessories with physics like the bunny ears (more to come later).FIXED: Grabbing the head should be easier now.FIXED: Crash when placing a character between the chair and the desk in the captain quarters.FIXED: When loading a character created in an older build the custom morph values should now be retained and any new morphs will be added to the character with their default value. Known Issues:- Motion captured animations do not save yet.- Object attachments do not save yet.- Recording animations is experimental and missing some features. There's no way to control playback or clear a recorded animation yet, and you can't re position an animated point. As a workaround you can save and re load the character in place, or move the overall scale slider which will remove any animations. I will add more controls later!- When a mocap animation loops it's not smooth, I should be able to fix this later by adding a blend.
