Introducing my solo game project, Misfit Company!

Hey everyone! I left Newgrounds a while ago to pursue some projects, and now I want to come back to start sharing my art and other projects! I am thrilled to finally share what I have been working on through a lot of late nights over the past year! Here is a teaser of my first solo indie game, "Misfit Company."Lead a squad of specialists deep behind enemy lines in a gritty, boots-on-the-ground struggle to dismantle the enemy's war machine from the inside out. You will face down engines of war on land and in the air, all in an effort to prevent the launch of a mechanical abomination that threatens to reshape the continent. The goal of this project is to combine the handcrafted frame-by-frame visuals of the most captivating aspects of today's animated films and television shows while giving the player a seamless action-packed narrative experience where every finisher and interaction feels like a scene from a top-tier animated series. Now that I am finally sharing this project, I want to give some context on how this project has progressed over the past year. I am currently working on this project as a solo developer, and everything you see in the screenshots and teaser was created entirely by me. It's been a ton of fun but a lot to manage while balancing a full-time job and children to raise. In the fall of 2024, I was laid off and was just coming off Halo Infinite, so I took some time to reset, and after a few weeks, I was interviewing with Riot and actually received an offer to join the team down in Sydney. I sadly didn't take the job at that time because I had the opportunity to work with a few past colleagues on some really cool stuff at Meta, and it allowed my kids to stay close to their relatives here in Canada. In November, I was watching Arcane, and I had an idea for a project that hit me like a freight train, and that would become this story of a band of Misfits. As I went into 2025, I already wrote out the foundation for the story and was starting to storyboard out every cinematic the game would require while scouring my film and game libraries for as much storytelling reference as possible. As the year progressed, I started working on the prototype, but also created a large library of concept art, 3D assets, and fully polished characters that would help establish the art direction. What has been really exciting is that I am producing everything on my own with a fresh mindset towards production compared to my AAA experience, and creating a purely handcrafted experience using my 10+ years of experience in games. Now back to our regularly scheduled programming! Steam page!Teaser Trailer!

Misfit Company

A mostly faithful retelling of the story of Phi, the toxic slime (Phisnom's avatar.)

Life of Phi is an animated mostly faithful retelling and expansion of the story of Phi, the toxic slime who we know as the mascot of the streamer called Phisnom. Phi was originally designed by StupidButterfly. Phi was once a security guard working in a laboratory until "something happened in that laboratory that caused the entire personnel to be consumed by a weird substance." Being the sole survivor, Phi makes it their slow but sure life mission to see what else they can uncover about the Substance and if there's any way they can utilize it. This is the first part of what is to be developed into a full-length film, which will be released in about six parts as they are completed before its full release. I originally did this as a sort of "proof of concept" if you will, and now I am committed to it. I created the backgrounds, animation, sfx, soundtrack and voice acting, with the exception of some sfx being sampled from Phisnom's videos (i.e. the screaming.) Part One was originally released on August 25th, 2024 on YouTube. You can watch the original release over there too! OBVIOUS BUT OBLIGATORY DISCLAIMER: This is a fan work and is non-canonical. P.S. The genre is marked as drama because I find my work quite campy lol

Life of Phi (Part One)

Today marks the birthdate of the esteemed manga artist and character designer, Akira Toriyama, born on April 5, 1955. On this special occasion, I feel compelled to pay homage to him by honoring one of his most iconic creations: The Dragon Ball franchise. From its captivating games to its enthralling comics, cards, and series, Dragon Ball holds a special place in my heart. It's not just a series; it's a journey, a source of inspiration, and a testament to Toriyama's genius. As I reflect on Toriyama's life and legacy, I am inspired to delve into the world of Dragon Ball and create my own rendition. This is more than just an artistic endeavor; it's a tribute to the man who sparked my imagination and fueled my passion for storytelling. Through my interpretation of Dragon Ball, I aim to pay homage to Toriyama's brilliance while also honing my own skills as an artist. So please, join me on this journey as I channel my admiration for Akira Toriyama and his masterpiece, Dragon Ball. Accept this offering with open hearts and minds, and let us celebrate the life and work of a true visionary. This is a fan made film and is not intended for sales of any sort.
