Who will heed her message?-----Reassured, this did not take 7 months to produce. I actually only started it back in December. The huge lull in time can be attributed half to procrastination, and half to being unsure how to proceed. Longform videos would be cool, but they are WAY too time-consuming. So these shorter segments will do. There's also the issue of getting crucial info and worldbuilding out, and that's where I've REALLY been stumped. I want to show off the meatier ideas I've had for this AU, but to get there requires some buildup you may or may not be interested in. You know, the usual Point A to Point B dispute. Now that I've got a better grasp on where I want to go from here, hopefully I can get the next installment out in a more timely fashion. For two ordinary plumbers

To save her world.

This is that story.

The Adventure Begins Now

[Sacred Scripture of the Holy Order, Verse 1322] Long ago, when the inside and outside of the world had yet to solidify, still rippling like waves, there existed a goddess between the worlds. She awoke alone, encased in a blue, transparent veil of glass. Her body was as light as mist, her hair swaying gently like undulating waves, yet her eyes pierced through the world—any who looked into them held their breath. The world, as seen by the goddess, was soft and fragile, and its creatures were like shadows dissolving under the sunlight. Too weak even to clash with one another, they were prone to quarrel over the slightest things, and the sharpest of spears soon turned toward the goddess. …Fire fell from the sky, and black winds surged from the earth. The goddess’s twelve eyes fixed upon the minuscule beings of the world. The creatures were torn, shattered, scattered to pieces, and the hardened fragments were flung across the lands. The goddess tore at her own arms, letting pale blood flow. Her blood seeped into the cracks of stones, turning clay soft, smoothing rocks, and fertilizing the earth.Wherever her blood touched, mountains breathed, waters sang, and blades of grass lifted their heads. The creatures begged the goddess for forgiveness, longing to grow once more under her grace. Yet she hardened herself and fell into slumber. In the radiant world, only the insignificant and pitiful remained. Even now, the creatures pray: "Goddess, nourish us once again, but conceal your eyes from us."

Mr Uncanny and Barry discuss on how to... fix the fridge.

Concept and InspirationThe idea behind Mario and the Purple Spot came from MrSeb81’s fascination with glitch art and video game lore. He wanted to explore an unusual plot point in the Mario universe, where the normally cheerful world of Mario is disrupted by a strange, unexplained phenomenon: the purple spot. The concept was to give Mario a task that felt strange but oddly relatable—much like the frustration players feel when encountering a glitch they can’t solve. Character DevelopmentMario’s character, usually a fearless plumber, was portrayed in a slightly more confused and paranoid light in this short film. Voice actor behind Mario (MrSeb81 himself, perhaps!) went for a more stressed, edgy tone throughout the video. Mario questions the purple spot’s existence, often engaging in humorous inner monologues that reflect the absurdity of the situation.Supporting characters, such as Luigi and Toad, make brief but impactful appearances, each offering their own ridiculous theories about the purple spot. These small cameos were improvised, adding a spontaneous flavor to the character dynamics. Set Design and Visual EffectsThe purple spot was no ordinary visual. In post-production, MrSeb81 experimented with glitch overlays, using vibrant purples and pixel distortions to make the spot look out-of-place in Mario’s typically vibrant, cheery environment. Using modern editing tools, they were able to give the purple spot an eerie glow that hints at something "off" in the Mario universe. Many of the sets were classic Mario worlds recreated using fan-made 3D models and custom animations. The contrast between the crisp 3D designs and the glitchy, ominous spot is one of the video’s highlights.

Aurora fears her crystals are low on energy, and gets new friend Gerald to help fill em up

In late 2023, Team Lewd the Newt (Studio RGB-Newt / The Fishal Project's NSFW 18+ content division) commissioned fellow Australian <a href="https://toxitoxus.newgrounds.com" rel="nofollow">@Toxitoxus</a> to produce an NSFW animated short film based on our unpublished webcomic (The Aussie Goldmine) about a down-on-his-luck kangaroo named Gerald Symons who wants to make the world a better place, and the ghost of an emu named Aurora Australis, a celebrity of stage and screen that died during the "Great Emu War" in the 1930s (approx. 90 years ago from this post. yes, such a war actually happened in real life, look it up!), who got accidentally unleashed from her eternal slumber when Gerald struck open a crystal geode. This is that short film, and the quote at the end of Aurora reassuring Gerald that he was "helping out a friend" is related to his endeavours in making the world a better place, as mentioned a sentence or so ago. Now some of you may wonder why she carries around a shard of the geode, why she needs it charged in the first place, and why sex is of any help. Well, consider this short film a precursor to an upcoming series that answers those questions titled The Aussie Goldmine: Explicit Edition, which will feature 8 additional episodes of longer length starring these characters, 2D hand-drawn animation, 3D backgrounds utilizing Unreal Engine 5, and more. Episode titles include "Go for Gold!", "The Japanese Jasmine" and "Waltzing Aurora", among others, so look out for those next! In the meantime, we hope you enjoy this short! Chris Pratt makes a great Mario. Totally.

Mother Spaghetti, it's Marlo! Chris Pratt doesn't make for a very convincing plumber. Charlie Day tries his best to encourage Chris to try a little harder, or at all, but Chris doesn't even seem to be reading from the script. Jack Black tries powering through with his mighty voice, but will it be enough? Probably not. This has been an idea floating around the back of my head for months, or at least since I saw the first trailer for the Super Mario Bros movie. Chris Pratt has one voice, and he doesn't even sound like he's trying to do anything other than be Chris Pratt. And Chris Pratt doesn't sound like a portly plumber. I know everyone realizes that, but I enjoyed the script I wrote, so I decided at the last minute to animate it for Mario day. Yep, March 10th. It's not even a holiday, but it got me to do a Mario cartoon, so whatever. Enjoy it for what it's worth. And before you ask, no I totally didn't use Voice.io to re-create the voices of Chris Pratt, Charlie Day, and Jack Black. I had those actors each come to my house yesterday, had them each smoke 50 packs of cigarettes, and had them record their lines. Totally not just me running my voice through voice filters. Totally. Yes I'm being sarcastic. Not that anyone reads descriptions anyway.
