Description
The Dutch Shepherd, a medium-sized dog from The Netherlands, was originally a herding breed. They are closely related to the belgian_shepherd and distantly to the German Shepherd, who they are commonly mistaken for. They are slightly smaller then the latter, with an athletic and agile build. They are fawn or silver with a dark brindle. Most have short hair, but long or rough haired variations exist. They are known for their high intelligence, drive, and energy, making them well-suited for most working roles, particularly for military and police K-9s. Dutch Shepherds are commonly interbred with the malinois_dog by police or militaries who prioritize working ability over pedigree, which can increase the confusion between the two breeds.
