Description
A family of bats (scientific name Pteropodidae) also known as fruit bats. It contains the largest known bat species, thus the name. Though most bats in this family subsist on fruit and nectar, some also eat insects.
Unlike most bats, megabats cannot echolocate, and as such lack the leaf noses seen in most bat species.
