ANTISOCIAL is a fully handmade, non-commercial stop-motion short film and animated music video created in Gera, Thuringia, Germany.

Created by Studio RE-ANIMA-TRO for the German death-metal-punk band Pedagogic Torment.

The entire project was produced independently by one person over the course of seven years — from designing and building puppets and miniature sets to frame-by-frame animation, photography and final post-production.

No studio system. No external funding. No shortcuts.

More than 6,000 individual frames were created using traditional stop-motion techniques, handcrafted puppets, practical effects and physical materials.

There is no spoken dialogue and no subtitles. The film relies purely on visual storytelling, movement and music. Rough textures, handmade surfaces and visible imperfections are intentional and part of the artistic language of the film.

ANTISOCIAL explores themes of isolation, resistance and absurd inner conflict through a surreal and darkly humorous story. Instead of explaining everything, the film focuses on atmosphere, movement and interpretation.

The soundtrack was written and performed by Pedagogic Torment and acts as the backbone of the project — somewhere between an animated music video and a narrative short film.

Since 2024, ANTISOCIAL has been screened internationally at 100+ film festivals across 32 countries and six continents, receiving 29 awards and distinctions.

This project exists because stop-motion is slow, physical and handmade — and because some stories only work when they are built one frame at a time.
