music video i made for my band

an assortment of programs were used for this video. it was edited, graded, and composited in premiere pro. this is my last major project on premiere pro, i've since switched to davinci resolve. premiere fought me trying to render this video. it would not render it. i eventually had to do some nesting stuff to get it render, which is kinda dumb. it's what made me finally switch to resolve studio, though, which is a good thing.

my pain

all of the 2D graphics and photo editing was done in affinity photo. this is not affinity by canva, but the original affinity by serif. it's an awesome photoshop alternative, it's a shame you can't get it anymore.

the 3D stuff, mainly the crow, was done in gmod. i setup the scenes in hammer++ (thanks ficool2), did some basic scripting for the npc_crow's pathing, then recorded that in gmod.

after that, i brought it into premiere and keyed out the white background, so i was just left with a silhouette. here's the full premiere timeline. it would look a lot more complex, but most of the shots are nested.

it was a fun mv to make! i got to explore avenues i typically don't. and i'm even more glad it made me switch to resolve! i'm having a much better time with resolve than i did with premiere. also, perpetual license. i got premiere through my college, but i'm about to graduate, so i needed to switch anyway.
