Conquer the Foe To all those whose truth has been silenced or forgotten.— RKS _______FOREWORD:Conquer the Foe is Roadkill Studios first ever short film. It is a hand-drawn anti-incidentalist film which pays homage to classic point-and-click Flash game culture. The film began development in March 2025, and was composed, illustrated, edited, written, and published by one amateur artist. All music and artwork was created by me, although some characters and visual elements are deliberate homages to, adaptations of, or parodies of works that influenced the film. At the centre of the film is the film theory principle of anti-incidentalism. The notion that every visible character in a film must have a defined history and identity, irrespective of whether that history is immediately apparent to the viewer. The film is therefore intended to be experienced not merely as a graphic chase scene, but as insight into fragments of a larger world beyond what the viewer sees on screen. The need for a film like this is to fulfil the duty of laying the groundwork for a comprehensive anti-incidentalist narrative long term. In some respect, the "art" of anti-incidentalism is to attempt to prepare for questions that will be asked in the future. The film was created both as an exploration of this principle and as a personal homage to the visual and artistic style of 2010s Flash games. Conquer the Foe is the first major release under Roadkill Studios, and it represents the start of a wider body of work that the studio will continue to develop over time. _______ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS:Hundreds of hours were dedicated to the completion of this short film. Although entirely created by one individual, we must thank the developers whose artistic influences enabled this film to be made in the first place. We thank Chriss Martin, Yan Lepage, Mario Boutin, Jo Fortier and Josee Godbout for Desolation: The Stages of Anxiety. Their work on this project is noted for the prominent grim-minimalist art style and inspiration for many character designs in the film. Stage 1 was constructed as a tribute to Desolation.Credit: https://www.kongregate.com/en/games/webcypher?page=7 We thank Hyptosis for The Sagittarian and for his excellent hand-drawn style, which inspired the horde/chase elements of the film and several character designs, particularly in Stage 2.Credit: https://hyptosis.newgrounds.com/ We thank Mateusz Skutnik for Submachine, and for over 20 years of consistent artistic output and contribution to the point-and-click genre, the influence of which cannot go unnoticed for this film.Credit: https://www.mateuszskutnik.com/ We thank Patrick Majewski for Monster Basement and its sequel. These games established an artistic vision that largely inspired Stage 2. We also thank Patrick Majewski for permission to include The Mud Vile from Monster Basement as part of this film.Credit: https://godlimations.newgrounds.com/ We thank Igor Stravinsky for The Rite of Spring. A composition that completely redefined modern music and paved the way for many of the film soundtracks released in the last century. From the creator:To my mentors from the conservatory — whose names have been omitted for privacy — I thank you for your knowledge and expertise in which you shared with great generosity. The role of mentor should not be undervalued, for the role they play in forming a trainee's professional (and sometimes personal) life can be profound. Their contributions both directly and indirectly have helped shape the vision of this film and will define all future Roadkill Studios productions. I remain indebted to them for their dedication, patience, and time they commit to providing guidance and mentorship. _______Stage Descriptions:

Prelude - The point in time before any disturbance. The prelude is the calm before the storm.

Stage 1 - The first stage is the experience of a sudden distressing event; this stage is the realisation that something has gone horribly wrong as panic sets in.

Stage 2 - This is the stage where panic is quickly replaced by a state of blunt, numbing dissociation.

Stage 3 - Stage three is where the density of consciousness reaches its breaking point. Sanity is erased following a flash of light, and the incomprehensible suddenly becomes known.

Stage 4 - Consciousness returns hours later; the embers of the previous stages continue to burn as comprehension slowly reconsolidates. Episodes of delirium continue, with flashes of mnemonic rupture followed by further disorientation. The acute event is over but effects fluctuate over several hours.

Support Roadkill Studios on Ko-Fi: https://ko-fi.com/roadkillstudiosofficial NOTICE: This film contains disturbing, graphic, and mature material. Sylvester finally gains the upper hand...

Made this on my iPad on weeknights in between working on "Punk in Gunk IN LOVE??" on weekends. I'm so, so tired now. Go see Wile E. Coyote vs. Acme if your local theater is showing it, by the way, that seems a bit more respectful to the legacy of Looney Tunes than...this...

will i be satisfied?

After working on shots for Unleashed ReAwakened in 2022 and Rayman Sings Sex Bomb ReAnimated in 2024 (I can’t upload my shot for the latter onto Newgrounds as it uses unlicensed music -_-;; ) I hadn’t animated anything in about a year due to life, mental health and whatnot. Realising this, decided I should continue to flex my animation muscles, using Rayman again! (cause he lives in my head rent-free :P ) The aim of this piece was to practice character acting and lip-syncing, and I think it was pretty successful in those areas. This was originally just meant to me a pencil test but I had the itch to ink and colour it so I just went along with that. I took way too long to finish this thing, having started it in April 2025 and completing it this month (July 2026) Once again this was due to life and my mental health struggles getting in the way. For my next animation however, I'm gonna aim to keep at it and try not to let my anxiety and insecurities get in the way. I worked on this project throughout the summer of 2022, straight after graduating university and completing it that September. Being on this project was a really valuable learning experience for me as an animator and artist overall. I want to thank DoubleR and PixelisFake for allowing me to take part in this awesome project!! :D (I would have (and should have) uploaded this piece MUCH sooner but good ol' social anxiety and life in general got in the way of that lmao) Software used:ProCreate - background assetsRoughAnimator - Character and effects (floor) animationTVPaint - colours, shading, background animation, compositing, effects animation (lightning bolts)Adobe Premier Pro - final compositing Audio belongs to SEGA

An animatic/storyboard of two poké fusions training.

Been working a bit more on animatics and storyboarding. Before anything is said; yes, this is very schlocky. It's just practice, but good enough that I feel you might have a cheap laugh about it. For whatever context is needed, it's involving a mutual's and my OCs interacting. Grizz is a Morgrem + Gliscor (Morgor) and Halley is a Spinda and Minior (Spinior). Enjoy the cringe. a diary-style short about a fish stressing over deadlines while on a relaxing tea meetup

it's been 100000 yearsi need to be on here more, i love this space so i've been going to my local tea friends meetup recently but wwasn't able to go this week and probably won't make it this week's either, so i made a short diary-style animation to bathe in the good vibes. they're a lovely bunch, and i'm a very awkward fish. last time i went i was especially weighed down by the deadline-related anxiety shaped boulder in my brain

Aiden Etch Dee is a simple sketch based animation and comic series about an anxious raccoon of the same name. She is meant to reflect how I think I look when I'm going through my mental struggles.

HELLO! I've been away for a bit cause I've been wrapping up commissions and sorting out my taxes! To get back into the swing of animating my own guys, I've been animating some of my friend Taxiderby's outtakes from the previous animation, also to help deal with a bit of my anxiety towards animating actual, non-gibberish, dialogue performances!I ended up liking this so much that I properly artpassed it and decided to share it!

A psychological horror short about the monsters in our heads.

What does your anxiety look like? This is the official teaser for LATCHERS, an indie 2D psychological horror project. The story follows a student who drifts into "The Vivid": a space where our heaviest internal burdens manifest as physical parasites. Every single shot in this teaser was done solo and frame by frame. I used traditional 2D animation to capture a specific type of heavy, sluggish movement that reflects mental exhaustion and burnout. Most of the dream state visuals were inspired by old glitch art and retro tech aesthetics to keep the atmosphere as unsettling as possible. Knave hopes to ask for a moment between him and Ragatha.

Knave confronts his anxiety, hoping to at least have a moment between him and Ragatha. Back in December last year (pun kinda intended), I met up with Amanda Hufford at Requiem Cafe and got them to record a little something for myself. And I loved that audio. So much that I made small little comic dub. Been working on this for a while, and I love how this came out! May be small, but I’m proud of myself for how far I managed to make this comic turn out amazing. Amanda Hufford, if you are watching this, thank you again for the audio and for the sweet meet up. You are awesome. And I hope you guys like it!
