Description

Anthro is a body type of an animal character that is anthropomorphic (animal with some added human qualities), also known as a anthro, anthropoid, furry, kemono, funny animal and a multitude of other terms.

Some common features of an anthro may include - but are not limited to - a snout, body fur, feathers, scales; and unique characteristics dependent on their animal species like wings, horns, fins or digitigrade legs for example. These are combined with human qualities such as physique (e.g. shape of chest, shoulders, butt, etc.), upright posture, opposable hands, human mannerisms and ability to make facial expressions.

Anthro may cover animal-like mythological and fictional species as well if they have common human qualities applied to them. This also applies to monsters and robots that closely resemble anthros.

Anthros are commonly biped and have human-like necks but some may also be legless (e.g. naga, mollusks or merfolk) and/or have a long neck (e.g. giraffes or scalies).
