A 2D rotoscope/3D motion capture animation of B-boy Eddiestyles

Hey everyone. After two failed attempts to submit an animated short to Hellavision Television for their biannual open calls for animation (I still helped on a friend's submission the second attempt), I finally got to something the third time around (with a generous extension)! For this open call, Dance Everywhere, I was required to animate dancing in unconventional locations, so I decided to record a video of relatively famous B-boy Eddie Styles dancing and animate something from there. The problem is, I was torn between 2D rotoscoping his movements or converting them to 3D motion capture data, and by the time the deadline came around, I had already devoted too much effort to both approaches without fully committing to one. In the end, I decided to combine what I had into something somewhat usable. I apologize if it looks unrefined or unfinished, but I'm glad to at least be part of Hellavision for once and do something cool with a great breakdancer. The Amazing Story of the Phantom Cat is an animated short that I wrote, animated, and scored between December 2022 and April 2023. It was my first experience making a 2D animated short, so it was a cascade of challenges that turned into countless learning experiences.I made the animation using Krita. Hours and hours of drawing, erasing, and drawing all over again. I had already composed the music long before, but I arranged it specifically for this short, trying to understand the logic of timing and repetition in animation, using LMMS.I was lucky enough to have some great ghostly friends—José Haidar, Marcelo Cáceres, Agustina Conti, and Daniela Barrionuevo—lend their voices to the narration and characters.I hope you enjoy The Amazing Story of the Phantom Cat! Beyond the joy of bringing this project to life, this short film allowed me to connect with incredible people from the world of animation, mainly through its participation in film festivals. In October 2023, The Amazing Story of the Phantom Cat was screened at FAN – Festival Audiovisual de Neuquén (Argentina), as part of the Official Selection of National Animated Shorts. In December 2023, it was also part of the Official Selection of Animated Shorts at AnimaVerso Festival, held in Florianópolis (Brazil). In January 2024, it was screened in Santa Cruz de la Sierra (Bolivia) as part of EDO 2024, and in May of the same year, it was screened at Anima Latina in Buenos Aires, Argentina.I never imagined the cat would get to visit so many places. * * * La Sorprendente Historia del Gato Fantasma es un corto animado que escribí, animé y musicalicé entre diciembre del 2022 y abril del 2023. This was animated over two days using a mix of FireAlpaca, Hitfilm and some photography of my smartphone! I want to get in a habit of animating little segments like this for my YouTube videos, this one was a test to see how quickly I could do that! Oh and did you spot the reference to an animated short film, right down to the sampled audio? The stock confetti asset was created by FoxGrafy Design on Vecteezy.com

THIS MOVIE WAS CRAZY AS HECK! Uh this is my first video so lemme introduce my characters The pair of Sunglasses is Sunny, a 21 year old with autism who loves collecting vintage gaming items like figurines and posters! Odbert (or OD for short he likes using OD) is the main mascot of this account and the studio! he is optimistic but realistic and (like me) likes to animate! (he's the one with the huge hair and red shirt btw) H.E.L.P.E.R. (Helpful Emotional Lifeform Providing External Reassurance) Is Odbert's creation that turned sentient after Odbert showed him the world in a day of fun. he has sass, but has a big heart. can't forget he has tons of knowledge, so make sure to ask when you need... HELP (ba dum tsss) He's the one with the autotuned voice. ok that line was kinda corny, but still! more characters shall be introduced in the future.

HOW WE ALL REACTED TO TADC 9

Seems like the Chaos Emeralds wanted to troll Team Sonic during the final battle, huh?

HI EVERYONE! This is my first upload on Newgrounds, and my first fully 2D animation, made just in time for Sonic's 35th Anniversary and ahead of Powerpuff Girls Z's 20th Anniversary too! I've had this idea in mind since a few months back, but it was kinda hard to figure out how to animate in 2D until I installed Flash a few days ago. I've always wanted to try 2D Animation, but I never got started properly until now. Anyway, I made this with the hope of getting into Sonic Shorts Volume 12! (or Volume 11, if Paradox is still awaiting submissions, although unlikely) So, <a href="https://thesonicparadoxteam.newgrounds.com">@TheSonicParadoxTeam</a>, if you see this, here's the FLA for this potential submission, in case you consider replacing the audio as well as the placeholder Japanese voice clips from Sonic Heroes and/or adding this one to Volume 11 or 12:<a href="https://drive.google.com/file/d/1hhPA6miZMFMnlZDVf0q0bKa__nUK1BBo/view?usp=drivesdk" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">https://drive.google.com/file/d/1hhPA6miZMFMnlZDVf0q0bKa__nUK1BBo/view?usp=drivesdk</a> This is my proudest achievement so far, finishing a 2D Animation for the first time. So happy to hear everyone's thoughts on this. I've got another 2D short in mind that I wanna work on now that I've finished this, but I personally think this is my favourite so far.

A short AFTER EFFECTS animation assigment

Music: Spiedkiks - The day before This short was made for a college assigment where we had to animate a character in a 3D scenario, all of this done with the After Effects tools. It was amazing to make a 2D rig, I am sharing down some pics of the Behind the scenes for this animation: <ul><li>Idea + Sketch: for this assigment I used an old design I made in 2022 for a X QUEST thing, it has been forever so I gave a proper redesign that follows my current style and character design ideals, I think he looks amazing now</li></ul><img src="https://img.ngfiles.com/image-uploads/000/001/615/iu_1615560_7111165.webp" alt="iu_1615560_7111165.webp" data-smart-scale="764,569"><img src="https://img.ngfiles.com/image-uploads/000/001/615/iu_1615561_7111165.webp" alt="iu_1615561_7111165.webp" data-smart-scale="764,412"> <ul><li>The RIG: Drawign the model and separating the body part was the fun part, the hard part was putting it all in After Effect in order, properly connected, and masked.</li></ul><img src="https://img.ngfiles.com/image-uploads/000/001/615/iu_1615563_7111165.png" alt="iu_1615563_7111165.png" data-smart-scale="764,911"> However the addon "Duik Angela" made the whole Rigging process so satisfying to do, I even got the chance to experiment with it a little, now his Bucket Helmet was completely 3DIMENSIONAL, If I had more time I wish I could make this rig even more complex<img src="https://img.ngfiles.com/image-uploads/000/001/615/iu_1615566_7111165.png" alt="iu_1615566_7111165.png" data-smart-scale="764,285"><img src="https://img.ngfiles.com/image-uploads/000/001/615/iu_1615565_7111165.png" alt="iu_1615565_7111165.png" data-smart-scale="538,560"> <ul><li>3D SCENARIO: Working on 3D with AE is PAINFUL, specially with these looping objects and camera that just pans out, but the tower was a even bigger pain in my ass, in fact I had to cheat on the second scene because making a 3D cone that spins around only on AE is basically impossible, so that cone is actually a 3D object</li></ul><img src="https://img.ngfiles.com/image-uploads/000/001/615/iu_1615567_7111165.webp" alt="iu_1615567_7111165.webp" data-smart-scale="764,417"><img src="https://img.ngfiles.com/image-uploads/000/001/615/iu_1615571_7111165.webp" alt="iu_1615571_7111165.webp" data-smart-scale="664,395">Plus this fuckass scene wouldn't render for some reason and it almost made me late for the assigment deadline

Trailer for an animated short film about wendigos coming soon

This is a trailer for a short film that I have been working on for the past few months and which will come out very soon. The short film is called 'Wendigo Hillbillies'. It's about a man who is lost in a snowstorm. He seeks shelter in a cabin which happens to be inhabited by wendigos who dress and act like rural hillbillies, but are actually out to devour him the moment he drops his guard. The film's look is supposed to resemble old school animation in a way, with hand-painted backgrounds and 2D animated characters, but now inside a 3D environment. The 3D environment is entirely made in Blender, and the 2D animation is made with Callipeg (tie-down), Moho (clean-up) and TVPaint (coloring). And the music is composed by a cousin of mine. I'm very excited to share the full short film with y'all when it's ready to be released! For now though, you can enjoy the trailer!

Wendigo Hillbillies - TRAILER

Part 2 of the animation adaptation based on BigiGts's comic with the same title.

Here it is finally! After a very, VERY long delay, the 2nd part and finale of the animation "HoloXtra - Big N' Smol" is finally here! 😭😭😭 With Lui seemingly missing and having been dropped in an unknown location, Iroha decided to separate with Laplus and Koyori to run around the massive, garbage-filled room and look for her, not knowing that Lui had fallen inside one of Chloe's boots, waking up and trying to get out of the stinky prison by herself but to no avail.Laplus and Koyori on the other hand decided to climb Chloe's bedroom to help with the search with the idea that having a much better view of the whole room could make finding Lui much faster, that is, until Laplus decided to separate with Koyori and wake Chloe up properly to help them get to the portal. Will they succeed in each of their goals and go back to their normal size? Or will they become forever trapped within the confines of Chloe's massive room full of trash? And for the most important question: Will Chloe even try to clean her room before Sora-senpai visits?Find out in this 2nd part and finale of the animation which took me 4+ months to make! 😓😓😓 _____________________________________________________________________ This video is an adaptation from BigiGts's comic with the same name, but I decided after consulting them that I want to create some sort of epilogue after the ending part of the original comic story (we've talked/discussed about what the extra scenes' story will be like and what scenario would be added). I had to split the animation into 2 parts because the story is very long. This might be one of the challenging animations that I made for a while as I needed to animate five/six separate characters individually (which is different than just using some random mob models in my other videos), use some heavy effects (which causes so much lag and sometimes crashed MMD on my "potato" laptop, and also causes some random glitches when rendering the video, which I can't fix sadly so expect some "glitches" when watching), and specifically making Chloe's messy room (which took me more than a week to make an edit of). I also had some challenges from my IRL/health stuff (like my thumb randomly twitching due to overwork and in one time I woke up in the middle of the night where it doesn't stop twitching which is scary, random blackouts in our place which made me force to bring my potato laptop at work just to continue on the animation, and other private related matters). Anyways, sorry again for the very long delay and I hope you enjoy watching the video and the wait was worth it~! 😖😖😖 If you like my videos and wanted to show some support, you can support me on my Patreon, Subscribestar or Ko-fi. It helps me keep motivated to make more videos in the future! A Second Short that I never got around to finishing

This is a short i never finished. I got lots of other projects going but someday ill probably make an even better version of this. The background this time is a 3d model because I fell like it would fit better and it does kind of fit with the 2d Characters The story is that the bowling ball guy wanted to try walking again. But when he did try he kept making loud footsteps which then he got really scared that he mite fall throw the floor. The robot and plant guy tell the frog dude to help him but he didn't so instead the robot guy goes over to the bowling ball guy and helps him up. The robot offers him to carry him back to his room but half way there he accidently falls backwards while holding the bowling ball guy causing them both to make the tiny crack bigger and fall right down the floor. The plant and frog guy go to check on them down the big hole and they can see the robot guys glowing eyes while the bowling ball guy is with him. The plant guy goes to get a rope and lends it down to them so they can grab on and as they grab on to it and climb it the rope breaks and the plant guy try's to look for something else but the robot guy tells him that its fine and that he'll find a way for him and the bowling ball guy to get out. The bowling ball guy walks off in the dark place they fell in as he to try's to find something to help them get out and the cartoon ends as the robot guy looks at the camera and it fades. (This is what the story is supposed to be but the majority of it was not animated)

Tylenol Vegeta Insurgency - An Dystopical 2D Indie Animated Short Film

When you have a goal, never give up on it.

First premiered on April 27, 2026, at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. It’s been a while since I last posted, so I’m incredibly excited to finally share this. This is a video that has been in the works for nearly two years with animation beginning in February of 2024 and wrapping up this past March. It has easily become one of my proudest passion projects to date. Since 2024, I've spent night and day trying to make it turn out incredibly close to how I originally envisioned it to be, and I feel like I was able to achieve that goal. There were a lot of bumps along the road and obstacles that got in the way during production, but I kept going. I couldn’t let this project go unfinished, and I’m glad I didn’t. I just hope you all enjoy it as much as I enjoyed making it. When you have a goal, never give up on it. Join our protagonist as she ventures on a miraculous journey across the many different parts of the land, being determined to prove herself worthy of being a superstar. A short film about a captain who underestimates a monster. An animation exercise

Few parts of the animation were surprisingly challenging. The ocean movement and waves were fun to animate, but the boat shots required a bit more thought. Since the boat is drawn in 2D and not a real 3D object, rotating and changing angles had to be done manually to keep the illusion working. For example, when the boat tilts and the camera angle changes, I had to adjust the drawing so it feels like the boat is turning in space, even though it's really just a flat drawing. The top-down shot of the boat was also tricky. As the camera pulls away, the captain had to look upward toward the viewer, and the cabin needed a slight backward tilt. In the real world you would naturally see a bit more of the top surfaces when the camera moves farther away, so I had to fake that perspective shift in 2D. Interestingly, the sea monster itself wasn't the hardest part. The most challenging bit was actually the water splash when the monster emerges from the ocean. Getting the motion of the water to feel energetic and believable took a lot more tweaking than I expected.Everything in this animation was created using Arttista, a 2D illustration and animation tool that I built myself. I've been using projects like this to experiment with different animation workflows and features while developing it. Old Supa rig was horrible to animate with so i made a new one :Smiles with teeth:

The old model did not feel good to animate w &lt;/3 I like the new rig very cutie and much easier to use, plus I got to try out using cloth physics, so that was cool! I made this as like a short test animartion but I also thought it would be cool to show the difference between the first and 2nd modle :Widest smile with lots of teeth: Tuesday, ‎February ‎3, ‎2026, ‏‎9:20:28 PM

Antisocial is a handcrafted stop-motion animated music video created over seven years.

ANTISOCIAL is a fully handmade, non-commercial stop-motion short film and animated music video created in Gera, Thuringia, Germany. Created by Studio RE-ANIMA-TRO for the German death-metal-punk band Pedagogic Torment. The entire project was produced independently by one person over the course of seven years — from designing and building puppets and miniature sets to frame-by-frame animation, photography and final post-production. No studio system. No external funding. No shortcuts. More than 6,000 individual frames were created using traditional stop-motion techniques, handcrafted puppets, practical effects and physical materials. There is no spoken dialogue and no subtitles. The film relies purely on visual storytelling, movement and music. Rough textures, handmade surfaces and visible imperfections are intentional and part of the artistic language of the film. ANTISOCIAL explores themes of isolation, resistance and absurd inner conflict through a surreal and darkly humorous story. Instead of explaining everything, the film focuses on atmosphere, movement and interpretation. The soundtrack was written and performed by Pedagogic Torment and acts as the backbone of the project — somewhere between an animated music video and a narrative short film. Since 2024, ANTISOCIAL has been screened internationally at 100+ film festivals across 32 countries and six continents, receiving 29 awards and distinctions. Selected recognition includes:- Winner – Best Story (FEEDBACK Animation Film &amp; Screenplay Festival, USA)- Winner – Best Animated Short Film (FECIS – Salto Independent Film Festival, Uruguay)- Winner – Best Music Video (Mannheim Arts and Film Festival, Germany)- Winner – Best Stop Motion Animation (UK Film Awards)- Winner – Best Animated Film (Global INDIE Filmmaker Awards, United Kingdom)- Winner – Best International Music Video (Zepstone International Film &amp; Music Festival, USA) This project exists because stop-motion is slow, physical and handmade — and because some stories only work when they are built one frame at a time. It took quite a while with the character design, background art, animation, and final compositing. I always managed to find time for animating in between work and my college studies. I’m honestly really proud of how it came out. I do plan on making more with this Green Dino character in the form of an office documentary-comedy mini series. I’m hoping to start preproduction on that very soon.

The game unfortunately didn't release in winter 2025 so this is the least I can do.

Alright for those of you who don't know, about a year ago I revealed a release window for my game Spert Balls 2 which was winter 2025. Obviously that didn't happen so to make up for it I decided to release an actual teaser trailer for the game. It might not be much but it's the least I can do. Spert Balls 2 is an episodic 2D action shooter game which is a sequel to a game that I made in 2023 (<a href="https://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/881512">https://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/881512</a>) and if you just clicked on the link and played it yourself, chances are you've realised that it was bad, short and rushed out. Don't worry, I can guarantee you that Spert Balls 2 will be a hundred, if not, thousand times better than the first one and will feel like an actual video game worth playing. The gameplay will be heavily inspired by a lot of old school games for example DOOM, Metal Gear Solid, Half Life and some flash games I grew up playing. Right now I'm only working on Chapter 1 and if it does well, then I'll work on the whole game. For now I can't promise you with a release date since I don't want to end up delaying it again and life is becoming more difficult right now since I'm slowly approching adulthood, but don't worry, as soon as I know the release date, you'll know too. This is an animation that I had to create with the challenge of having to create an animated short film in the course of 24 hours as part of an animation course I took part in. For this one I was really proud with how I blended Stop Motion and 2d animation together and made the two mediums interact with each other throughout the film. Remember Nothing Makes Sense! Nothing Makes Sense!

Sometimes just sitting in silence is best you can do.

This was a little animation I made during a heavy time in 2025. I was dealing with some health stuff and a pressing issue was with my hands (I still deal with the pain today) where I could barely do anything with them without horrible pain. So, while I know the lil' animation here isn't perfect, I still look back on it as a "despite it all, I still finished it." I wanted to share this with as I know we all have stuff in our lives that are very hard on our souls, mental and emotional well-being. It doesn't make you "less than" in any shape or form. As Rocky says, "nothing hits harder than life" and it is very true. As we come to a close on 2025 and onto 2026, I wish you all the best in your goals and health.

HERBIVORES

Experimental surreal eye- short This animation has loosely been in the works for nearly 4 years. Largely on the back burner, to pick up between other projects. In late 2022 I came up with the concept, and in 2023 did some rough draft key frame story boards. Then for practice did a 5-10 frame animated blink to get a feel for frame rate. This year was progressively working on this version. For only being 20 seconds long, it to an insane amount of time and effort. Felt like I was going mad drawing the same patch of grey 100 times, then starting back for another patch. At the start of the year I worked on the black and the eye color. The rest rest has been sculpting the face with grey. Ending with an attempt at making background music last weekend. There’s still some things that bother me, but those skills will grow with more practice I think.I’m very happy to be finishing in October- best month.Big thanks to hazyjai, for support and encouragement through the whole process.inspiration:I used to really like the art on tool album covers as a kid, the concept was vaguely inspired by Ænima. Lava lamps, inspired the movement. hiccups:about halfway through this year, my animation file got corrupted. I definitely panicked, but thankfully there was a way to recover some of it. Maybe missing the most recent few days of work, but not all lost. Both a relief and a bit discouraging in one. Definitely switching to a real animation software for the next one. Too many limitations and I don’t want to risk that happening again. When I finally felt ready to upload, ran into issues too. Some stretching and distortion. The video is smaller now, but I believe that’s fixed. I've wanted to animate for a very long time. I’m happy to finally be taking those steps.

It’s where loyalty, betrayal, and guilt collide — and where our amphibious antihero, Commissioner Olover Hopz, comes face to face with a ghost from his past: Chuck Fettuccine, his long-lost partner turned revenant with a gun and a grudge.Visually, this project pushes a hybrid style — 2D hand animation mixed with comic panel stills, cinematic camera moves, and pulpy atmosphere. Think Sin City meets BoJack Noir, with that signature Lude Concepts grimy edge. Every frame is designed to feel like a lost page from a crime comic.<img src="https://img.ngfiles.com/image-uploads/000/001/481/iu_1481195_22997349.webp" alt="iu_1481195_22997349.webp" data-smart-scale="764,430">⚙️ What’s Happening Right NowThis project is currently deep in WIP (Work in Progress) mode — animated live on TikTok, where you can catch the process as it happens: rough sketches, frame breakdowns, voice recording sessions, and the occasional caffeine meltdown. The goal is to not just show the process — but to build the world in real time with anyone who wants to be part of it. Artists, animators, sound designers, voice actors, or even storytellers who want to throw their creative DNA into this world — this is your invite. 💀 Why This MattersThe Freight Yard story is a key piece of the larger Jurassic Narc mythology. It dives into the psychological decay that drives these characters — and sets up threads that will connect directly to the main series and future episodes. It’s personal, gritty, and full of that “animated fever dream” energy that made Jurassic Narc what it is.<img src="https://img.ngfiles.com/image-uploads/000/001/481/iu_1481193_22997349.webp" alt="iu_1481193_22997349.webp" data-smart-scale="764,430">💸 Crowdfunding &amp; CollaborationThis isn’t a corporate-backed studio piece — it’s a community-built passion project. If you dig the style, the vibe, or the chaos of indie animation, support and collaboration mean everything right now. Whether it’s helping fund production, offering creative input, or sharing the project with people who’d love it — every bit of energy helps bring this vision closer to the finish line.🎨 Interested in joining or supporting the project?<ul><li>DM me here or hit up <a href="https://www.ludeconcepts.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">ludeconcepts.com</a></li><li>Follow <a href="https://ludeconcepts.newgrounds.com">@LudeConcepts</a> on TikTok and Instagram for live animation updates</li><li>Drop your ideas, art, or sound reels in the comments — let’s build something raw and unforgettable</li></ul> The freight yard is alive again. The ghosts are waiting. And this time… they’re not staying buried.– Lou Perez / Lude Concepts#JurassicNarc #AnimationWIP #IndieAnimation #Newgrounds #GhostsDontDie #2DAnimation #CrowdfundIndieArt

A 10th Anniversary Tribute animation for Undertale

so... it's been a while, hasn't it?a whole 10 years!!!!! this game means so much to me. Where do I even begin with this? Back in July, Toby fox posted an echo flower tweet that asked, "what does UNDERTALE mean to you?" After responding to the website, suddenly I realized I had to lock the heck in. Two months before the 10th anniversary of the most influential thing in my life? Anyway, here we are now. It would’ve been a disservice not to work so hard on something that’s meant so much to me for so long. This is something I made for both the creators of Undertale and myself, so it’s um,, pretty personal to me! I’ve animated before, but this time I really feel like I gave it my all! A story about staying strong and having meaning, and it ends up having so much meaning to me too? That definitely makes sense, right? I’m always pretty nervous about my art, and my writing especially - but this one I feel like I’ve genuinely done my best, and my best is awesome :D. The whole process just felt... so important to me. I hope that shows through. I really tried to add as many details as I could, but you know how a deadline is... My main goal for this animation was really to just show all the meaningful parts of the original Undertale that really led me through my life. There are so many awesome parts of Undertale, and for this film I tried to focus on the hard-hitting moments. Though there are a few scenes in here that kind of stray away from the main game... I think that’s okay! I maybe worded it best in my little echo flower blurb at the end. Music arranged by David Peacock, Performed by Augustine Mayuga Gonzales, Distributed by Materia Collective. This audio is used under the fair use doctrine (nothing commercial about my most important experiences! No no no sir!). In last minute crunching, my friend Joby Grant helped with the layout of scene 17 with Undyne highballing Alphys straight into the trash. I laughed at this art for like 20 minutes straight.Professional Hype guy - eldritchskirm (helped a lot with looking over stuff thank you!!!)Thanking many others who helped me push through and gave me so much encouragement and advice!! Couldn’t have done it without you, that’s said a lot, but I mean it!! And if you want to read the poem on it’s own: here you go! It's a field full of memories.Thousands of them have sprouted in the marsh. Each an echo of a moment held close.Hopes and dreamsWishes so concentrated they glow, and float up aboveCrystalizing on the roof of the mountain. We wished for stars and they became our ownThey reach for the sky as much as us. We do wish for an angel,Some sort of all encompassing solution.A salvation that's easyBut what we do have now thats stronger? Our LOVEOur friendshipsOur happinessOur hope. Here we have each other. What could be better than that?If we were to look back,We'd find each otherIn ourselves.Isn't that wonderful? So stay strong,Stay determined. We'll still be here for you. Thank you so much.
